I read a manga online that was fun to see progress and is quite heartwarming. Though slightly perverted and vulgar, I learned a lot about life because the conflicts that arise are from highschool students our age. I remember seeing this at the school library in the manga and comics section so maybe some people can read it when we get back in person! GTO which stands for Great Teacher Onizuka is a story about a young man named Onizuka, a former gang member, and his journey and experiences of becoming a teacher. Despite being held back by his unusual lifestyle and immature personality, he is determined to become a teacher. During his time in high school, he was a legendary gangster known for his fighting skills but moved on to become a teacher. Inspired by his teachers, who made school strict and all about education, he aspires to be a teacher that won’t put education as the only priority and help students enjoy school and fix their internal problems.          For this blog post, I chose to review  What If?  by Randall Munroe. This book is not like some that you have read before, but it is definitely one of the most interesting and informative books that I have ever read through. This is unlike most of the other books you have read because it has many scenarios of wild scientific theories, and he says them in funny and (mostly) understandable language with stick drawings inserted once in a while.       One of my personal favorite scenarios was what would happen if the sun randomly "switched off". The normal reader would think that he would say everything would die, but he actually gives a very detailed timeline of what would happen and some of the other things that would happen.      I read Killing Patton written by Martin Dugard and Billy O’ Reilly. The book provides a detailed, nonfiction look into one of the most famous generals to ever serve the U.S. Military. The book dives deep into the complicated political and mysterious threads that involve the 4 star general’s service in World War II.  For me the most interesting part of the book was about Patton’s death. It talks about what exactly happened, however it provides the mysteriousness around it. *SPOILER ALERT* As Patton was driving with some military friends to go hunting, a 2 ton army truck driving next to them suddenly veered into Patton’s car. Patton was paralized and the skin from his nose to his forehead was peeled. After a couple days in the hospital, he died. The mysterious part is that this Army truck was not only driven by drunk soldiers, but was not supposed to be there. Furthermore, the drivers disappeared promptly after the crash.                  Nemesis is the first book in a series by Brendan Reichs. The story takes place in a town called Fire Lake. It’s picturesque and quaint, a place someone may visit for vacation. However, it’s also secluded, bound to the outside by the single bridge known as the plank, and what’s going on in secret is far from pretty. The book starts out with the point of view of Min. She has lived her whole life in this town and has died there 4 times. Since she turned 8, on her even numbered birthdays, she is found, is killed, and resets in the same spot in the forest. However, it was not till Min’s 16th birthday that the rest of the world started to fear for their lives, because a giant asteroid named the Anvil was discovered to have broken orbit and entered a possible collision course with Earth. In this review, I will talk about Fahreinheit 451, the reason why it was challenged, and my opinion on the book. No spoilers. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury revolves around a dystopian world where knowledge and thought is suppressed. TV rooms are used in order to entertain society in order to keep people from wanting to expand on their views and ideas. Any ownership of a book results in a house fire, burning everything in and out.  An interesting thing about this book is that it was challenged by a parent of a child on December 1, 2017, in the school district of Santa Rosa in Florida. The parents challenged the book because of the book’s profanity and using God’s name in vain. This, along with the book's glimpse on a world where possession of books are banned and thought is limited lead to the book being reviewed by a committee.        Over the past few weeks, I read the book The Giver , by Lois Lowry. This book is about a dystopian world that was completely altered after a war that destroyed almost everything. This book was narrated by Jonas, a teenage boy who is about to be given a profession. In this book, a profession is what a person is intended to do after they reach a certain age.      Towards the beginning of the book, we experience Jonah going through the "Ceremony of the Twelve", where the twelve-year-old boys get their professions. But after everyone else had gotten theirs, Jonah had not heard his name. There was one remaining profession that was not said: The Reciever. The receiver is the person that gets all of the memories from the time before the war; before everyone was exactly the same. However, this was not at all an easy job to fulfill.
